This is one of the excellent tips I picked up from Leslie Samuels who guest posts on Entrepreneur-Journey.com.
We’re all so programmed to put “share”, “like” and “tweet” buttons all over our websites that we may be confusing our subscribers and losing sight of our priorities.
As a blogger, your number one asset is your email list. You own it outright (as opposed to your lists on Twitter, Facebook or Google) and, if used correctly, can be used to communicate with your list, research your market’s needs and wants and also to monetize your site.
Once you have an email list of opted-in subscribers you can build community, which has leverage, and will build your personal brand, and momentum on your site. All the hard work to create traffic and get people involved in your site will pay off once you have an email list working for you.
So, on your website, and especially on your blog, be clear about what action you want people to take. Every post and page should have a Call To Action, but make sure the Number One thing you ask anyone to do first, is to opt-in to your list and give you their email. Then encourage them to share, like and tweet your content.
