Online Marketing Secrets From Denise Wakeman and Danny Iny

The secret? Be visible everywhere.

I’m reading a lot of year end “best post” type articles at the moment and both Denise Wakeman and Danny Iny (of Firepole Marketing) offer this same advice. It’s great marketing advice.

Find. out. where. your. target. market. hang. out. and. be. there. Always.

Be ubitiquous, be visible and be consistent. It’s easy but not simple (or is that simple but not easy?). In other words, it’s not rocket science but not many of us have the discipline to actually stick to this.

What Denise suggests is blocking an hour a day out of your diary (whatever time suits you best) and committing to spending that hour on marketing your business online.

For example, spend 15 minutes a day on Facebook connecting with your market. Post videos and links with relevant content to your market. Post photos, quotes or useful information. But be consistent and do this every day (without being too self-promotional).

Spend 15 minutes a day on Twitter, replying to messages, retweeting and responding to, and sharing, items of interest to your market.

Allow 30 minutes a day for commenting, connecting and sharing on social media sites and that’s your 1 hour a day time done.

So, if you can commit an hour a day (Monday to Friday), and be consistent and active in marketing your business online, you’ll see some impressive results.

Danny Iny was ubiquitous in a different way. He wrote 80 guest posts in a year, and suddenly appeared everywhere his target market were. When people started seeing his name and posts all over the place he had instant credibility and his popularity, and business, soared.

So, thanks Denise and Danny for the great advice, and personal inspiration.

  1. Great advice. As you note, it’s not quite as simple as it seems. Identifying your target market and finding out where they hang out is tough indeed.

My blog specializes in information for small businesses looking to do marketing on the cheap. That’s a pretty big brief.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting Charleen. It’s so important to do proper marketing research and it does take some thought, and work. But so worth it!

  2. Great post Cassie.

I take both those stories to heart, and find myself focusing on both, with quality *and* quantity :)
